By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:35

Yesterday’s adoption presentation went very well. We have a better understanding of what Kendra has come through and how we can better parent her from here. Along with her team, we were able to prepare a plan for transitioning her to our full-time care by the end of July. We are so excited to see God’s plan take shape in a tangible way and to be able to bless Kendra with a loving, dedicated family. Thank you for your continued prayers.

We’ve spent some time with Kendra in the past week, and will spend most of tomorrow and Saturday with her as well. The “Adoption Presentation” is scheduled for next Wednesday 6/24 afternoon. During this meeting, we will be presented with all of the documented history for Kendra. After this meeting, we will be given a few days to confirm our “final” decision at which point our visits with Kendra will increase until she is placed with us full-time. We’ve already been challenged as we compile a list of house rules (they’re slightly different than the list of house rules we have for our toddlers!) I know we will learn as we go, but we trust that God will provide some level of miraculous parenting ability as well. Please pray that during our time with Kendra

1. God would be present with us

2. God’s will for our family would be clearly revealed

3. Kendra would get a completely realistic understanding of life with us

4. We would get a completely realistic understanding of life with Kendra

We met with Kendra this weekend and things went well. She seems like a great fit for our family. The kids liked her and the relationship seemed comfortable. What a journey of faith and trust this is, making decisions to move forward with just a few meetings – we are choosing to trust that God is in control and keep going until he closes the door. At this point, we wait to hear from her caseworker later this week. If everyone wants to move forward, we will attend an Adoption Presentation meeting where her documented history in the social welfare system is reviewed. Once that meeting is complete and we have as much information as possible, it’s up to us to make a final decision within a few days and we’ll implement a plan to transition her into our home.
